He was born in Nashville Tennessee to Coastin Garrison (deceased) and Shirley Garrison nee Pewitt (deceased) on March 29, 1960. Beloved ex-husband and friend to Kimberly Garrison nee Ewing. Loving father of Gary J. Garrison (Carolyn). Cherished Grandfather to Alyssa Garrison, Peyton, and Riley. Gary was a cherished grandson to Ruth Cates nee Brown and Travis “Buster” Cates (both deceased). Son-in-Law to Robert Ewing (deceased) and Sissy. Brother of Jerry (Della), Clyde (Subrenia), and the following siblings that preceded him in death: Vicki (Eddie), Terry (Johnny), Andy, Dawn, Wanda, and Clint (Carrie). Loving brother-in-law to Lori (Ron), Mark (Wendy), Bobby, Crystal (deceased), Misty, and Gary. Loving Uncle, Great Uncle, Nephew, and Cousin to many.
He was also a friend to everyone he met. Gary was affectionately called “Bubba” by many of the children in the family and also by friends. Throughout his life my dad was always someone you could count on when you needed a helping hand. If he wasn't working at his full time job then he was helping someone work on their car or complete a side job. Jokingly, we would refer to him as Buster's chauffeur as they were inseparable during Buster's life. From road trips back to Alabama to breakfast trips to Steve's Lunch in Cleveland, they were nearly always together. Gary's love for Cleveland football, old western movies, and oldies music were unmistakable.
We will never forget the football games we attended, family gatherings, family vacations, the love you shared, or the lessons that you didn't realize you were teaching us. We love you.
