Reynolds in Cleveland, Ohio on March 11, 1934. She was the youngest of
eight children. She enjoyed a happy fun childhood. She would be the first to
tell you that as the baby of the family she was spoiled. She said her mother
spoiled her the most and she went everywhere her mother went.
Gloria grew up on the east side of Cleveland and graduated from John Hay
High School where she was a cheerleader. She also participated in dance,
drama and modeling at Karamu House. She joined the Methodist church
and accepted Christ as a teenager.
Gloria fell in love and married Frank Camp in 1952. She would give birth
to two children, Frank Camp Jr. and Lisa Camp. She loved and adored her
children and was a supportive and caring mother. She went on to become
an adoring and loving Grandmother and great Grandmother.
Gloria loved a good party and became the "Life of the party" whenever family
and friends gathered. Her humor and quick wit had a magnetic quality that
would draw people to her. You could also count on Gloria to be a "straight
shooter". You would never have to wonder what she was thinking, she would
let you know…in no uncertain terms. That is what we loved about her and
made Gloria "Gloria".
Gloria had a creative flair, it was evident in how she meticulously decorated
her home for each season and wore her head-turning attire. Her creativity
was on display and shared through her work as a teacher's aide in several
schools during her 23 year tenure in the Cleveland Public School District.
She developed and organized art projects and outings for her students that
were fun for them and also provided lasting memories, such as her "family
tree" project. Gloria surprised the entire family by spending hours preparing
a family tree project as a gift for her sister's 50th wedding anniversary. Her
work remains to this day as a lasting family treasure.
