Hector R. Velez Feliu, 67, of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Born in Higüey, Dominican Republic, Hector was the beloved son of the late Amador Velez Diaz and Carmen Amelia Feliu.
Hector was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. For 38 beautiful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Dilia Nieves, who was the love of his life and by his side through the many chapters of their journey together.
He was a loving father to Maleny Martinez (Adam Boling), Lydia Martinez (Edgar Cuenca), Maria Claudio, Carmen Elisa Velez, and Rafael Martinez. His greatest joy was his family, and he cherished every one of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a proud grandfather to Elsy, Destiny, Anayssa, Kelvin, Devin, Dayanara, Noel, Thanairi, and Kasandra, and a loving great-grandfather to Novyanna, Nai'lany, Jeramiah, Ahvianna, Zabdiel, Amelia, and Jasiel.
Hector will be remembered not only for the love he gave his family, but for the kind of person he was. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people laugh. He was outgoing, hardworking, respectful, and always willing to lend a helping hand. When someone needed him, Hector was there. He was a provider, a protector, and a man who showed his love through the things he did for the people around him.
He found happiness in the simple things in life—being outdoors, working on projects around his home, listening to music, spending time with animals, and, especially, playing his beloved güiro. These were the things that brought him joy and created memories that his family will carry with them forever.
Hector was the dear brother of Carlos, Juan Amador, Teresa, Josefina, and Miguel Angel, and the beloved nephew of Dania. He was also a cherished uncle, cousin, and loyal friend to many. His presence brought laughter, warmth, and comfort to those fortunate enough to know him.
Though his family is heartbroken by his passing, Hector's life will continue through the people he loved and the memories he created. His laughter will be remembered. His helping hands will be remembered. His music will be remembered. Most of all, the love he had for his family will live on in every generation that follows him.
A husband who was deeply loved, a father who gave so much, a grandfather who brought joy, a great-grandfather whose family was his pride, and a friend who could always bring a smile—Hector leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love.
He will be missed beyond words and remembered with love for generations to come.
Until we meet again, may you rest peacefully, Hector. You will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever remain in our hearts.
