

Janet L. Akins, daughter of Arples and Novella Hawkins was born on February 17, 1939 in Lonoke, Arkansas. She was the oldest of (4) children. Janet accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pettus, Arkansas. Janet was employed with The City of Cleveland for 30+years she retired in 2002. Janet was a devoted wife, a loving and respectful sister, mother and grandmother, she was a very Elegant Lady and dear friend to many. She always took pride in her manicure.
She had a smile that would light up any room, some of her all-time favorites included, reading her Bible, bowling, cooking, gardening, listening to Gospel, watching soaps, and watching family feud.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband of over 45 years Sammy Akins, mother, Norvella Hawkins, father Arples Hawkins, brother James Hawkins, sister, Shirley Hawkins, nephew, Arples Martin and grandson Lonnie Smith Jr.
Janet leaves to cherish her memory four daughters; Tina Johnson (Lewis Johnson), Sherrie Akins, Sonya Akins, Stephanie Akins, Grandchildren; Charity Akins, Duriel Akins, Mark Akins, De'Asia Akins, Markika Naseer, Dalana Naseer, Robert Farmer, Telina Johnson, Ray Gaiter III, Great Grandchildren; Devin Akins, Melody Akins, Kyere Naseer, Caden Akins, Chase Akins, Reddi Griffin, Mark Akins Jr., sister; Norvea Johnson and a host of family and friends.

A visitation for Janet will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44112.
