John “Sonny” Edward Gazda, 84, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, February 13, 2021 peacefully.

Visiting Thursday February 25, 2021 from 4 - 8 pm at the Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44111. Funeral Service, Officiated by Pastor Charles Lallee, Friday, February 26, 2021 at 10:00 am. Interment West Park Cemetery

John was born March 11, 1936 in Van Meter, Pennsylvania to John and Rose (Yarnovich) Gazda. He served 4 years in the United States Army. He married the late Eileen Gazda (Rose). They had four children together, Clyde (deceased) (Peggy), Phyllis (Coleman) Hixson, Debbie (deceased) (Len) Urban, and Paul (Donna). He was surrounded in life by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters, and friends.

In his younger days he would be found on the baseball field pitching a game or at his campground in Spencer, Ohio with the family. As he got older, he traded in his baseball mitt for attending and watching NASCAR races.

John loved his dog Star; she was the light of his life. He was very involved and well known at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church where he would be every Wednesday night for bible study and Sundays for Pastor Freddy’s sermons.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below.

Many many memories of John & Eileen. They both were the nicest people in the world. They had much love to share. John was a proud person. He enjoyed Sports, The Andy Griffith show, Reading the Bible, talking to Debbie on the telephone, and his grand children's visits. We will miss you John, may you rest in peace.

John shared a room out at Southern Hills with my husband, Eddie. John was always a pleasant man, so glad that he was a room mate to Eddie. They got along good together. I will always remember John going to the Bingo games at Southern Hills and when he won, he would always chose a small stuffed animal as his reward. Good memories of a good man. R I P John.
