In loving memory of John Henry Webb Jr., a radiant soul who graced this world with his presence on January 26th, 1945, in Hinesville, Georgia. Born to the loving embrace of Wilma Atkins and John H. Webb Sr., he carried with him a spirit that found its true home in Eutaw, Alabama. Affectionately known as 'Junior' during his Carver High School years - Class of 1964, John left an indelible mark as the unforgettable “Drum Major.” Beyond the corridors of education, he ventured into the local A&P, where for years, he managed the Meat Department with dedication and skill.
In the early 1980s, John's journey led him to Cleveland, Ohio, where fate intertwined his path with that of his confidant and beloved wife of 34 years, Joann Johnson Webb. Their love resonated in the soul of their family with the birth of Benita and John, III. John's devotion to his family is known by many who worked with him at Bruders, Inc., where he bid farewell to his professional endeavors in 2012. John embarked on a post-retirement chapter filled with the richness of life. Surrounded by the warm embrace of family and friends, his days became a vibrant tapestry woven with passions such as gardening, photography, culinary arts, woodworking, travel, and an unwavering love for music and the Alabama Crimson Tide – Roll Tide Roll.
John's legacy is one of exceptional kindness, resourcefulness, and creativity. His generosity knew no bounds, always ready to extend a helping hand. To know him was to love him, as his warmth touched the lives of all fortunate enough to cross his path.
On December 19th, 2023, John H. Webb Jr. embarked on his final journey, bravely facing a battle with cancer. He now reunites with his parents, Wilma Atkins and John Webb Sr., as well as his daughters, Sheleric Patrice Webb and DaNesia Johnell Webb, who preceded him in death. Left to cherish the unforgettable memories of John is his beloved wife, JoAnn J. Webb of Cleveland, Ohio. His legacy lives on through his daughters Sharetta Webb Sanders (Cazarious Sanders), Sherrie Webb Bell (A. Craig Bell), LaToya Webb, Benita Webb, and his only son and namesake, John Webb III. The echoes of his spirit resonate in the laughter of his two grandchildren, Da’Nell Bryant, and Brandon Webb (Karina Lewis Webb), and the joyous presence of great-grandchildren, Ja’Nell Bryant (Ohio), Brandon Webb Jr., and Kynlee Webb (Alabama).
His sister Kathryn Webb of Cleveland, Ohio, and brother Wayne Atkins of Apple Valley, Minnesota, will forever hold dear the moments shared with their loving brother. John's impact extends beyond the family, reaching a vast network of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish him in their hearts.
In celebrating his life, we honor not only the man but the enduring love, laughter, and wisdom he shared with us all. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
