

Johnnie Mae Dean was born July 10, 1932 in Beasley Arkansas to the late John and Mary Dean. She attended Elm St Elementary school and Harrison High School in Blytheville Arkansas. She grew up under the leadership of Bishop Minor Jones and accepted Christ at an early age. She was united in marriage to Hurley Margerum, who is deceased. Johnnie moved to Cleveland, Oh in 1953. After moving to Cleveland she joined Williams Temple Church of God in Christ where she was a devoted member of the usher board and other women groups. Johnnie Mae fashionable known to show up in her Sundays Best at all times with a hat to match. She would participate in fashion shows and walk the run way. She loved to shop and travel.
Johnnie Mae loved on anyone in her path especially her grandchildren, great children, nieces and nephews. She was very family oriented being the matriarch in starting the Allen Bolton Dean family reunion in 1982. Sunday dinner was always a special time at her house. There was no need to ask where everyone was on Sundays after church because the answer was at Johnnie’s house for dinner. Let’s not forget the Christmas production that was laid out for everyone. From the food and drinks in the best glassware to the gift bags with everyone’s name on it. No one was left out.
Soft spoken, humble with a listening ear for all. Johnnie Mae was the 3rd of eleven children Bertha(preceded in death), Hazel (proceded in death), Naomi (proceeded in death), Ruth, John, Helen, Dorothy, Margaret (preceded in death), Easu and Stanley.
She leaves to rejoice in her victory her sons Theodore (Barbara), Steven, Marty, Tico (proceeded in death, Barbara); Sisters: Helen, Ruth, Dorothy Brothers: Easu, Stanley and John; Grandchildren: London, Steven Juan, Adonis, Shaun, Justin, Taylor; 15 Great Grandchildren; 9 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews
A visitation for Johnnie will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. An interment will occur Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 5505 Northfield Road, Bedford Heights, Ohio.
