Mr. Johnny "Pookey" Lee Lindsey Jr.

Mr. Johnny Lee Lindsey Jr., known to his closet family and friends affectionately as “Pookey” aka “Hat”. Johnny was born in Cleveland, Ohio at Lakeside Hospital on August 7, 1955, to the late Great Mr. John Lee Lindsey Sr., and Ora Belle Lindsey Smith. His siblings include 2 sisters, Rona (Ms. Ronnie) Lee Harris and Dianna Frizzel, stepbrothers, Lee, Mark and stepsister Wanda.

“Pookey” “accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Robinson Chapel Church where his grandmother Daisey Kellogg (Big Ma) was the mother of the church. She made sure Mable, Johnny, Ms. Ronnie and Dianna attended each and every Sunday. From the age of 5 years old until “Pookey” turned 11 years old.

In his later life “Hat” joined Trinity Outreach Ministries COGIC where Johnny served as a Usher until he started having problems with his back, legs and feet. He enjoyed sending our mother videos of the church Sunday services from time to time.

“Hat” was a gentle, kind, loving and caring soul who loved his parents and his sisters. Johnny enjoyed family reunions, barbque, gathering with family and friends and fellowshipping. You can see from the family photos Johnny was in and attended and enjoyed visiting his parents and spending time.

“Pookey” loved collecting antiques, buying and selling them. His father taught Johnny how to make wine from grapes from scratch, which he made and sold to keep money in his pocket.

He was a jack of all trades. Johnny loved to invite friends over to watch his favorite movies, Malcolm X, Scarface, Ten Commandments, Scent of a Women, Godfather series and he loved music, jazz, the blues and gospel. “Pookey” loved to dress and get sharpe from head to toe, go to concerts to see and hear his favorite artists and comedians.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings, Ms. Ronnie and Dianna, Lee Jr., Mark and Wanda, nephews Willie (Bernard) Harris, Lamar Allen Davis, a loving lifelong friend Gail Johnson.

We love you” Pookey “and you will never be forgotten.
