Krystyna Bienia, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026. She was the dearly beloved wife of 50 years to Dr. Mitchell Bienia; loving and devoted mother of Dr. Krystyna (Eliezer Morales Santiago) Bienia and Mrs. Michelle (Joseph) Boyd; cherished grandmother of Jackson Boyd, Christopher Boyd, and Marcos Morales Vedenskiy; sister to Ryszard Prelewicz (deceased) and Wanda (Jan deceased) Weichbrodt of Poland; and dearest aunt, cousin, and friend of many.
Krystyna was born on May 23, 1944 in Szrensk, Poland. After graduating from high school, Krystyna attended college in Poland to become an elementary school teacher. On July 4, 1964, Krystyna immigrated to the United States and arrived in Cleveland. She met Mitchell in 1971 while she was teaching Polish classes. She earned her degree in respiratory therapy, and worked in the field for 40 years. With her husband, she also owned a travel agency, Kniola Travel Bureau, for 25 years, through which they enjoyed traveling the world. Krystyna enjoyed shopping, especially for a good deal.
Krystyna’s life was punctuated by her pride in her family, her career, and living the American dream. She was also an active member in the Polish American community in Cleveland, OH.
Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2026 from 4 - 8pm at Craciun Berry Funeral Home 7200 Detroit Ave. Cleveland, Ohio 44102. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at the Historic St. Casimir Church, 8223 Sowinski Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44103 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 11 am. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
