With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Louise Akins, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a luminary in the world of business. Louise left us peacefully on March 21st at 08:28 AM, enveloped by the love of her family.
Mrs. Akins’ was born Sunday, September 1st, 1940, in Chattanooga Tennessee. Her extraordinary life was defined by her unyielding work ethic, innovative spirit, and compassionate heart. A retired professional nurse, her nurturing instincts extended beyond her family and into her community through the various businesses she established. Her legacy comprises thriving enterprises in home health care, hospice household, residential and business cleaning services, and real estate proprietorships.
Louise's tenacity and business acumen did not go unnoticed as she was proudly recognized as the Best Businesswoman in the City of New York—an accolade that speaks to her impact and dedication. Yet, it was her stern, yet fair approach to life that shaped countless individuals, offering not just services but opportunities that helped empower people from all walks of life.
Some knew Louise as a matriarch who was always there to provide for her kin, helping wherever and whenever she could. Her strength and guidance have left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
We invite you to join us in honoring Louise Akins' remarkable life. A memorial viewing will commence at Cummings and Davis Funeral Home, located at 13201 Euclid Avenue. Internment will follow thereafter at Lake View Cemetery, 12316 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Akins memory and spirit will be preserved not just in the silence of our thoughts but through the ongoing works of her visionary enterprises and the enriched lives of her community. She will be deeply missed, but the seeds she planted will continue to blossom for generations to come.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a St. Jude Children’s Research hospital, an organization that was close to Louise's heart, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring for others.

Mrs. Akins is survived by three siblings, three children, five grandchildren, eleven greatgrandchildren, four, great-greatgrandchildren and a host of beautiful nieces and nephews.
Loved ones who have preceded Mrs. Akins in death are; husband and pedestal Charles Akins, parents Thelma and James Grant, Brother Henderson Grant, Brother David Sandridge, Brother Joe Sandridge, and Sister Donella Sandridge-Alexander.
