Malik was an amazing person and friend. Although we lived hundreds of miles apart in completely different states and never met in person, he was someone who was always there to speak to about literally anything. He was extremely talented when it came to his music, something he was so passionate about, and truly made me laugh like no other.
I am so devastated to hear about his passing and will cherish the memories I have with him forever. To his family and close friends, I am so sorry for this incredible loss.

Malik was a special person, he was a genuinely good person. He was always respectful . As he got older, I noticed a FUN side to him that I never noticed as a child, he was quiet when he was younger, but as he matured, I found that he did have a sense of humor and could be quite the jokester when he wanted to! I wish I had kept more in touch with him and I loved him dearly, hindsight is 20/20 and you never know when will be the last time you will see someone. I last saw him in January and had no idea that it would be the last time. We loved him deeply.

Malik’s locker was next to my classroom at CCC. I saw him several times each day and he always had a smile on his face. He often visited my room for a donut on Friday’s or to borrow a pencil (which he always returned)!

I’m so sorry to hear of his passing and have his family in my prayers. God bless.

My most sincere condolences to the entire family.
Malik was an incredible person and very intelligent. I remember the times he would come over and cut the grass for Uncle Aaron and Aunt Kit! He really grew up into a intelligent and good person.
God Bless his soul, God loves him. God Bless the entire family during this difficult time.

I want to give my deepest condolences to Malik's family. I was Malik's 10th and 11th grade math teacher at Cleveland Central Catholic. It was truly a pleasure and an honor to have Malik in my class. Malik brought laughter and light to the classroom (and some mischief too!). He always cared about others around him.

My favorite memory of Malik was during his junior year at CCC. Most of the class were seniors, so they graduated and left CCC about a week before the school year ended for other students. There were only three juniors in the class, and Malik really wanted to learn piano, so he asked if we could turn the last week of class into piano lessons. We would go to another room with a piano each day and play piano together. As you know, Malik was a quick learner with a natural talent for music, and we had a lot of fun playing different songs.

Malik and I kept in touch after he graduated, and he kept me updated about his plans, his job, and his music. In our emails, he expressed that he wanted to make me proud. And Malik truly did make me proud. I am proud not only of who Malik was as a student, but more importantly who he was as a person. He truly brightened people's days and brought laughter and positive energy to those around him.

To Malik's mom and family, please do not hesitate to reach out if there is any additional support you need at this time. You are in my prayers every day.

Best,
Gina Lucchesi (known to Malik as Ms. L)
