Born on February 21, 1940, in San Salvador, El Salvador, Marina was the loving wife of Alfonso Olmeda; devoted mother to Sandra (Vicente) Roman, Benji (Ada) Olmeda, Alfonso Olmeda Jr., Ana (Raul Rosa) Olmeda, the late Henry Olmeda, the late Mario Palacios, the late Eduardo Olmeda, the late Luis Olmeda, and the late Maria Sanchez; cherished grandmother and great-grandmother to many; treasured sister to the late Alfredo Valladares; and beloved daughter of the late Salvador Chevez and Mercedes Valladares.
Marina was a woman of strength, whose love was most often expressed through her actions. She cared deeply for her family, faithfully stood by her beloved husband, Alfonso, and was always ready to help anyone in need. Whether offering a home-cooked meal, opening her home, or providing care for those she loved, she did so with true intention and a generous heart.
Her home was filled with music, laughter, cozy blankets, telenovelas, and watching Family Feud, making it a place where family and friends naturally gathered. She had a beautiful, unforgettable, sweet smile, a playful sense of humor, and never hesitated to lovingly tease those she cared about. She found joy in life’s simple things, especially her gallinas (chickens), and the time spent with the people she loved.
Through every challenge, Marina remained resilient, brave, humble, and deeply faithful, trusting God through every season of life. She was a woman whose quiet love, unwavering devotion, and joyful spirit will be remembered always.
The love Marina poured into others, the laughter she brought into every room, and the faith that guided her life are a lasting legacy that will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
