Born July 6, 1978 – Forever in Our Hearts
Today, we gather not to mourn, but to celebrate the life of a real one — Mark, known and loved by many as “Flex G.”
Born to Ophelia and Morris, Mark was a devoted son, a loving brother to Mike, and a proud father to his twin, Junior. His roots run deep through Ohio and Pennsylvania, where his extended family — the Herndons, Dimmings, Blantons, Snoddys, and Pattersons — carry his legacy forward.
Mark’s journey began on St. Clair Avenue, 140th and Kelso to be exact, before moving to East Cleveland in 1986. It was there that his story truly unfolded. He attended Caledonia, Kirk, and later graduated from Shaw High School — Class of 1996. From that move came lifelong friendships that grew into something stronger than blood. Names like Brett, Big Dave, Penny, Chuck, Timmy, Chico, Koolaid, Dre, Arana, and David Mumford — and so many more — became his chosen family.
Mark had a passion for cooking and was the king of the BBQ. He was a die-hard fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and those “damn Browns” — and don’t even think about arguing with him on that, because he’d have something to say!
He had a smile that lit up any room, and a way of making everyone around him feel good. That energy, that presence — it’s what made Mark unforgettable.
Today, we honor a real one. A friend, a brother, a father, a son — a man who lived life his way. He wouldn’t want tears — he’d want laughs, stories, good food, and memories shared. So, let’s do just that.
Fly high, Mark. You’ll always be with us — in every smile, every game, every grill-out, and every story told. Rest easy, Flex G. We’ll carry you with us always.
