

Sammie Walker Sr. and Hester Mae (Bass) Walker in Faunsdale, Alabama.
He attended Thompson High Scholl in Birmingham, Alabama.
In 1957 Houston moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Later he was married and
divorced to Dorothy (Smith) Travis, who remained a constant in his life. To
this union one child was born.
He worked for SK Wellman Corporation, where he serviced brakes,
clutches and transmissions. As his love for repairing cars grew, he became a
self contracted Mechanic who was loyal and dedicated to his craft. He was
known for repairing many people’s cars throughout Ohio.
Houston’s favorite past times were watching sports, he was a big fan of
the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns and for fun he played
the lottery every single day faithfully. He loved spending time with his
family, especially his great grandchildren, which was a continued infectious
laughter throughout the house.
He was preceded in death by his father Sammie Walker Sr., mother Hester
Mae (Bass) Walker, his brothers: Arthur J. Walker, Emanuel Harris, Isaiah
Walker and Samuel Walker.
He is survived by two daughters: Angela Harris-Scott and Kayann
(Darnell) Sims; one son-in-law Freddie Scott; four grandchildren: Tiana
Harris, Freddie (Derrien) Scott, Melissa Sims and DeAmber Sims; two
great grandchildren: Amir Wadsworth and Aiden Wadsworth all of
Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers: Stephen Walker, Phillip Walker and Larry
Walker; two sisters: Samella Scroggins and Geraldine (Leonard) Dill, all of
Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
