She attended Smith-Brown High School, upon graduating she had the
desire to explore and travel the world. As a very strong willed young
woman, in the fall of 1950 at the age of 18, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio
to live with her father.
Annie Ruth, as a young woman of God, was very loving and down-to-earth
with a huge heart shestarted helping and serving othersin her career as a
LPN.
Annie met the love of her life Clifton Jacob Callahan Sr. (Deceased) they
married May 23rd 1953. To this union was born 4 beautiful children
Clifton Jacob Callahan Jr. who preceded her in death(Diana), Barney B.,
Raymond A. and Lisa A. As Annie Ruth Passion & Love for the Lord
grew, Annie continued her spiritual walk with the Lord in joining Saint
Paul A.M.E Zion Church in 1953. Annie was along standing member at
Saint Paul for 65 years, she served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher and
she sung in the Cathedral Choir and Sanctuary Choir.
Around 1983 Annie graduated from Tri-C Community College and
became a Registered Nurse. Annie work at various hospitals and nursing
homes throughout the city of Cleveland.
After Retiring from the Medical Field, Annie went back to school to
become apart-time Masseuse.
Annie was a very active woman throughout her life. Annie loved bowling,
traveling and going on cruises, she was an avid sports fan and card player,
particularly pinochle, and she loved watching Westerns and Turner Classic
Movies. Annie was the Treasurer for the Winpisinger Tenants Association
and an active participant in events of her building community at the
Winpisinger Apartment on Shaker Blvd., in Cleveland, Ohio.
On Wednesday January 31st 2018 Annie Ruth Callahan was called home
to her Heavenly Father. She leaves behind to cherish her lovely memories, a
brother William Lanier (Myraetta), and a sister who preceded her in death,
Shirley Ann Cunningham, three children: Barney B. (Sherry), Raymond
A. (Johnnie), and Lisa A., three grandchildren: Clifton J. Callahan III
(Sherise), Darriel D. Callahan and Carmen A. Callahan, five greatgrandchildren:
McCaliah, LaTonya, Skylar C. Callahan, Daria D. Thomas,
Caydence S.I. Callahan, and a host of family and friends.
