Ida attended Cook County Public Schools. She believed in Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. Her favorite line was “God has been good to me.” She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Ida had one son, Charles Mathis. She later met and married Henry L. Davis (deceased). To this union two daughters were born, Denise and Delinda. The family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio and Ida was employed as a seamstress at Bamburger Clothing until the death of her daughter Denise in 1972. She also had one stepson, Lee Arthur Davis who preceded her in death.
No one was a stranger to her. She loved to clean and do her gardening. She believed in keeping an immaculately clean home and people would say you could eat off of her floors that's how excellent a housekeeper she was. She was also a devoted wife to her husband of many years.
Ida maintained a full life until February, 2018 when she took ill and was placed in a nursing facility. She passed away on May 27, 2018.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Charles (Ernestine) Mathis; one daughter, Delinda Wright; eight grandchildren: Paris, Darnell, Raymond, Tiffany, Lauren, Tyree, Akia and Lawrence; two great grandchildren; three goddaughters: Cathy Fletcher, Marcella Burt and Mona Oliver, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
