Mrs. Joyce V. Boyd

Joyce Boyd was born on January 06, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee to the Late Sosthenes Garner and the Late Thelma L. Garner. Joyce was the third of six children born to this union. She attended Hamilton High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Joyce accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age under the leadership of the Late Superintendent Willie Escoe Garner, at Power House COGIC, now known as St. Luke’s COGIC. She later relocated to Cleveland in 1966 where she remained COGIC for several years until she joined and became a Jehovah’s Witness. She remained committed and dedicated to this faith even when her health was rapidly declining. When she no longer had the strength to make it out to service, Joyce would have her studies in her home weekly, without fail.

Joyce spent the first 14 years of her life in Memphis, Tennessee surrounded by a large and loving family with strong values and ties. She wanted to instill these same values within her children. She birthed four wonderful and loving children, Cordell, Fenwick, Arturo and Artrice, and because of her huge heart, raised another loving son, Artreyo Garner from birth. Joyce was very proud of her children and strived to be a good mother.

Joyce’s work throughout her working years always involved helping others, whether it was in-home nursing, nannying or elderly and childcare. In many instances during her working years, She babysat for each of her siblings, Evelyn (deceased), Claude, Lowistine, Andrew (deceased), and probably Sosthenes, Jr., (deceased), when their children were born.

On August 12, 1983 Joyce married Arthur Boyd and remained in this union until her death. Even when she was on her last days and moments in this life, she lay right by his side until her very last breath. She was a virtuous and committed companion to her husband.

Joyce leave to mourn her passing: her husband, Arthur Boyd, her children: Cordell Garner (Sheree), Fenwick Garner (Tawanna), Arturo Garner, Artrice Boyd, and Artreyo Boyd; seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sister Lowistine Warren (Marvin), her brothers: Claude and Harrison (Liza), two uncles: Olus Jones (Shirley), and Archester Garner, two other loving aunts: Agatha Lockhart, and Margie Williams, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding Joyce in her death were her parents, Sosthenes and Thelma Garner, her sister, Missionary Evelyn Ruffin, two brothers, Andrew and Sosthenes Garner, Jr.
