Pamela R. Prince, a trailblazer, educator, and leader was born on June 1, 1957 to Bessie Kyle Prince and Eli Prince in Cleveland, OH. She received most of her primary education in the Cleveland Public Schools, graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in 1974. She earned her undergraduate degree at Akron University and graduate degree at Kent State University. She excelled academically and enjoyed reading, writing and public speaking.
Pamela accepted the call on her life to teach and lead for over 35 years. She made it her life’s work to improve the lives of countless children in the East Cleveland City School District. Pamela held numerous positions including 1st grade Teacher, Title I Reading and Math Specialist, Principal, and Director of Federal Programs until her retirement in 2013. She was an exceptional grant writer, and during her tenure as Director of Federal Programs, she wrote and secured grants totaling over one hundred million dollars. Throughout her career, she remained committed to training the next generation of educators and taught courses at both Kent State University and John Carroll University.
Pamela was a passionate, hardworking individual whose life was driven by three simplistic core principles of Family, Faith & Friends. She loved both parents but had a special bond with her “Dad.” She was an amazing Mother to her daughter, protective of her siblings, and the softest aunt to her nephews and niece who are all successful in their own right. Her deep love of family in both the nuclear and extended form is epitomized by all the private relationships she had with her nephews, niece, cousins, and friends. Pamela was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of New Community Fellowship where she regularly attended for many years. She also loved her Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., both Bid Whilst and Bridge, bowling, and traveling.
She had a warm, fun, and loving personality. Pamela was fiercely loyal and generous to those she loved. She wore the latest fashion and was always impeccably dressed. She reached milestones in her life from traveling the world to receiving special awards and recognitions, but her greatest joy and accomplishment was her daughter Elise.
After a life of exemplary faith, service and achievement, Pamela Renee Prince passed from this Earth to her Heavenly Home on March 20, 2024. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Elise Prince-McDaniel; brother Michael A. Prince; sisters Dr. Patrice A. Prince and Aundra Prince; aunt Mary Polk Kyle; niece Briana Prince; nephews Brandon Prince Oluyede and Corey Prince; great nephew Rashaun Michael Newbold; former husband Michael McDaniel; a bonus daughter Michelle McDaniel; a bonus sister Marcedus Prince and many loving cousins and devoted friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; brothers Cleon and Leon Prince; and sister Clara Delois Prince.
“Death ends a life, but relationships and memories are forever.” Rest easy Pamela, until we meet again. Well done! Well done!
Thank You!
Elise Prince-McDaniel and the family thank all those who took the time to express their love and condolences during this difficult time. While our beloved Pam lived a full and adventurous life, her loss is still one that leaves us empty. What carries us through are the many well-wishes, tales of Pam’s infectious spirit, and joyous stories that bend you in double with laughter. They are life sustaining.
Thank you for your kindness.
We love you. But know, our Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Cousin; Pam, loved you more.
