Beloved wife of Joseph Messina (deceased) for 67 wonderful years. Loving mother of Cynthia Messina (deceased), and Renee Capuiso (Michael). Caring grandmother of Joseph and Alexis Capuiso. Cherished daughter of the late Carmelo and Nancy Erney (nee Cottone) Ianito. Dearest sister of John, Jim Lewis, James, Sam and Clara Incoccia, Jenny and Sarah Corsello, Marie, Carmel, Carmelo, Roland, Oliver, Reynard and Carl Erney (all deceased).
Dear sister-in-law of Angelo Messina (deceased) (Annette), James Messina (deceased) and Caroline Messina (deceased). Loved by many friends in Florida to include Serendipity Mobile Home Park, Hawthorne Center for Rehabilitation and Aldea Green Assisted Living Facility. Beloved godmother, aunt, and friend of many in Ohio.
Phyllis was born in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from St. Peter High. She married Joseph Messina at St. Anthony and St. Bridget’s Church on September 25, 1954. She had several jobs but most known for working as an Estate Liquidator that she loved. She moved here with her husband as snowbirds and made their residence permanent in Clearwater, Florida in July 2005.
She left a lasting impression on all who knew her through her gentleness, calmness and generosity.
She was also a member of the Italian Sons & Daughters of America (ISDA) with her husband.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1PM-5PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44102. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11AM at St. Rocco Catholic Church, 3205 Fulton Rd., Cleveland, Ohio 44109. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
