Born on January 16, 1948, in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, Mony was the beloved daughter of the late Ramón Colón and Laureana Millet. From an early age, she carried a joyful spirit, a strong faith, and a heart that lived to care for others.
She was the devoted wife of the late Israel Colón Cruz, her partner in life and love. Together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and contentment, walking side by side until God called Israel home. Their love remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Mony was a proud and deeply loving mother to Carmen P. Colón (Rafael Cordero), Madeline Aponte (Sixto Aponte), Israel Colón (Janice M. Colón), and Elizabeth Colón (David Medina). Her children were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into nurturing, guiding, and loving them unconditionally.
She was a cherished and adoring grandmother to David Mora, Sariel J. Medina, Rafael A. Cordero, Daidmar B. Medina, Christopher A. Cordero, Dabriel D. Medina, Camila M. Aponte, Jeremy J. Colón, Kayla A. Colón, and Alanis Z. Cordero, each of whom knew her love through warm meals, laughter, gentle lessons, and endless encouragement.
Mony was a beloved sister to Iris Díaz, María Vélez, Violeta Caraballo, María del Rosario Colón, and José Colón, and was reunited in heaven with her brothers Víctor Colón and Antonio Colón. She was a loving aunt, a loyal friend, and a source of comfort and joy to many.
A 23-year cancer survivor, Mony was a true fighter whose strength came from her unwavering faith in God. She was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where her faith shaped the way she lived—loving deeply, forgiving freely, and trusting God fully.
Mony found happiness in the simple, beautiful moments of life. She loved cooking and believed food was an expression of love, joyfully teaching her grandchildren recipes and traditions that will live on for generations. She adored family gatherings, party planning, dancing, nature, and flowers—especially orchids. Known for her playful spirit, she delighted in practical jokes, laughter, and surrounding herself with people who brought joy into her life.
Above all, Mony will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and the way she made everyone feel welcome, loved, and at home.
