Roger Lopez

Roger was born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, to the late Miguel Lopez and Hilda Borrero Lopez. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.

For 60 years, Roger shared a beautiful life with the love of his life, his beloved wife, Emilba Perez Lopez. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He was the loving father of Roger Lopez Jr.; Riva (Michael) Haspel; and Ryan (Michelle) Lopez.

Nothing meant more to Roger than his family. He was a cherished grandfather to Jeramie (Sarah), Elise (Steven), Michael (Amanda), Haley, Nicholas (Stephanie), Jacob, Ryan Jr. (Mari), Olivia, and Thomas, and a proud great-grandfather to Michael Jr., Vincent, Sophia, Frankie, Graham, Kane, Wren, Max, Isabel, Elias, Riley, Penelope, Hazel, Chloe, and Christian.

Roger wasn't simply a grandfather who watched his grandchildren grow—he was present for them. He was involved, engaged, interested, and always ready to share a story, a joke, or a laugh. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they knew how much they were loved. The memories he created with them will be among the greatest gifts he leaves behind.

Roger was a man who truly knew how to live life. He was charismatic, fun-loving, and often the life of the party. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling jokes, always finding a way to make people laugh—even right up until the very end. He loved to dance, loved music, and had a particular passion for country western movies. He loved horses and the outdoors, and there was always a story, a song, or a joke close at hand.

He was also a man who took tremendous pride in his work and in caring for his home and family. Roger dedicated 63 years of his life to working as a longshoreman, including more than 50 years with the Port Authority as a crane operator. He was a proud member of I.L.A. Local #1317. His incredible work ethic was something he carried into every part of his life. He was meticulous, well groomed, loyal, dependable, and took pride in doing things the right way.

At home, Roger found peace in the simple things. He loved working in his yard and often considered it his therapy. He took pride in keeping everything just so and enjoyed feeding the birds. Whether he was working outside, listening to music, spending time with family, telling a joke, or simply enjoying the day, Roger had a way of making ordinary moments special.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Pedro (Margie) Lopez, and his sister, Migdalia (Robert) Irrizary. He will also be remembered with love by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Roger leaves behind much more than a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind his laughter, his stories, his sense of humor, his work ethic, his love of music and the outdoors, and most importantly, the love he gave so freely to his family.

Those who knew Roger will remember the sound of his laughter, the twinkle in his eye when he was telling a joke, his love of a good dance, and the way he could make a room feel more alive simply by being in it. His family will remember the countless little moments—the conversations, the stories, the smiles, the time spent together, and the love that was always there.

Roger lived a full life surrounded by the people and things he loved. His family was his greatest accomplishment, and his greatest joy was being part of their lives. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in every story told about him, every laugh shared in his memory, and in the generations of his family who will carry his love forward.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM, with a Celebration of Life service at 6:45 PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44111.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, OH 44140. The procession will form at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home at 10:30 AM.

Rest peacefully, Roger. Your jokes, your laughter, your stories, and most of all, your love will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know you.
