On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Sandra Jean Maddox (nee Robinson) passed away at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her father Ira John Robinson and mother Evelyn. She was a sibling to 11 brothers and sisters: Kenneth, Charles, Gerald, Ronald, and Carol who she joins in paradise; and survived by Albert, Donald, Alice, Jack, Elizabeth, and Linda. She is mourned by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is beloved in remembrance by her husband, Gary, two sons, Lance and McNeal, and four grandchildren, Troy, Darius, Mia and Ailey.
Sandra, known as "Sandy" to her friends and family, is an alumni of East High School graduating class of 1967 the Cleveland State University graduating class of 1985 and received her MBA from Baldwin Wallace College in 1988.
She wedded to Gary on New Year's Eve in 1971 and lived briefly in Toledo, OH and Detroit, MI before returning to Cleveland to pursue her graduate education and advance her career.
She worked for years as an Accountant for the Standard Oil Company, British Petroleum (BP), and as a Contracts Administrator at Key Bank before her retirement in 2000.
Sandy loved music and spending time with her family, leaving fond memories of laughter that echoed until late night from the porch of her mother's home in Cleveland.
Most Sunday's, after church, you could find Sandy cheering for the Cleveland Browns, playing board games, or completing the Plain Dealer Sunday crossword with her sons.
Her family celebrated her birthday every July 4th with a private fireworks show (with her constant reminders to "be careful").
In her toughest times, she relied on her strong faith in God and her abiding love for her family to carry her through. In her later years, in declining health, she was cared for at home by her loving husband, Gary and grandson, Troy. Her family is comforted in her passing by the memories they share and all the ways both small and large, Sandy graced their lives.
