SIMMIE “DICK" CANTERBURY, III, age 87, passed away Sunday January 28, 2024. Beloved husband of Lillian (nee Smith); loving father of David Wayne (Doris), Dwayne Paul (Catherine Hotz) and the late Dennis Allen; grandfather of Jessica Canterbury, Dwayne Canterbury Jr., and Andrew David Canterbury; brother of Margie Clark (Bob), Drema Stamper (Bob), Flora Cooper (Tom), Debra (Craig) Sutorius, and the late Mary Sue Mays (R.G.); brother in law of Ernest Smith (Linda Sue), Forrest Smith (Debbie), Mary Deborah Smith, Margie Lou Smith and the late Joseph Smith (Carol) and Florene Smith Zurilla (Edward); uncle of many.
Dick retired after 30 years from TRW Valve Division. He loved his church, fishing, hunting, his cats and just spending time on the water or in the woods. With all that being stated, his real passion was bowling. Dick entered and even won numerous awards.
Come celebrate Dicks’s life Sunday February 4, in the Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 14768 Lorain Rd. from 3-7pm and from 10am till time of service Monday, February 5, in the Freedom Church, 12401 Cooley Ave. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
