I'm shocked and saddened at this grim news.  In our general age ballpark, we receive these notices all too often.  They don't go down any easier in the repeating---in fact, the opposite might be true.

Ted Tanczuk was one of my closer friends at SJC.  We spent a lot of time together via our shared music interests.  Ted brought me into contact with rock musicians with whom I later played professionally.  And, most memorably, he and I worked together for quite some time washing cars on the night shift for Yellow Cab, including during our whole senior year.  (I think we joked that soap suds kept us at least semi-awake during classes.)

I can say without reservation or any hint of lazy platitude that Ted Tanczuk was an authentic gentleman and a kind, generous and thoughtful person of a type too rare, both then and now.  I miss him.  It's to my shame that I didn't make more effort to see him socially in recent years.  We've all lost a sincere and caring classmate.

May he rest in peace.   And my sincerest condolences to Ted's family.

I was looking forward to seeing Ted next month at the St. John Cantius High School class of 1968 reunion, but my memories of Ted actually go back to grade school at SJC.   His death saddens me and all the members of our class.  We will remember him at the reunion and honor his service to our country through the long career he achieved as an Army nurse.  I extend condolences to his son Ted and grandson Teddy.  

So lucky to have served with CSM Ted Tanczuk in the Army Reserves- 256th General Hosp. Then as we all transitioned to becoming thd 256th Combat Support Hosp. Ted was loved and respected by so many of us. We will always hold dear memories of our times. We retired from the Army together on Dec 6, 2008 and shared our retirement party with our military & civilian families! Love and miss him greatly. Respect & SALUTE!!
