Don't know where to start. Tom was a dear friend, a co-worker and a listening post when I needed someone to talk to. I worked many long days and long nights with Tom as a fellow worker, not just a boss. He was always there to lend a hand and as a support. I am so sorry for your loss. He talked about his family whenever possible. Holly, he was so proud of all your accomplishments. And loved the kids deeply. I am so sorry for your loss.

   Tom, on Earth, was wonderful, good, brave, honest, helpful and fun; as a Child of God, a Man, a Son, a Husband, a Father, a Relative, a Friend, a Police Officer, a Partner and a Captain. He shall be missed, a great deal. I salute him and shall offer many Masses for his Soul.

Tom was a great friend of mine, he stood by me when I encountered difficult times as  Commander of the Fifth and Sixth Districts. He would always say "we can get over this". Tom was always there to help anyone that he could. I remember the time he volunteered to plant daffodils along MLK  between the Shoreway and Chester Ave. I will always think of him every time I pass there and see the daffodils in bloom. Tom left his mark on all of our hearts! How could C.P.D and the 2nd district have been the same without him. Working nights, W. 41 & Clark Ave, the Hot Dog Inn and The Tube Man as a partner. It just didn't get any better!! His life made all of our lives better,and his spirit will continue to do so. God must have really needed help with something...God extended his hand to Tom and Tom went to help, as always. I think of the Tube Man and smile, what else could a person ask!

My relationship with Tom barely consistented of more than an occasional waive as he walked his dogs past my mother's house. That being said, he and Holly have been great neighbors and done many a kind thing for my mother and her partner over the years. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Random Acts of Kindness can describe Tom's life.  He was a great neighbor, as is the whole family.  I have been blessed with Tom's acts of kindness.  The latest was a couple weeks ago,  I heard pounding and noise about 9  at night from the Tube house.  I thought, what is Holly building for the carnival at Mt. Carmel.  I walked around the side of my house and there was Tom fixing my side gate so it would stay closed.  I guess he didn't want to have to hunt for the puppies, if they got out. Neighbors don't come any better.  I wanted to order him weather tech floor mats for his new car as a retirement and thank you for the gate present.  I put it off which I will always regret.  He lived a life of service.  I will miss seeing him pass at night  walking with his dogs.  One thing for certain, my life is better for having known him. My heartfelt sympathies to his family.

Captain Tube was an wonderful extraordinary fine man, soft spoken and  very kind . Thomas always helped everyone and he made every person he encountered feel special. To the Tube Family, you have my deepest sympathy .May photo memories from his retirement party give you  peace 
  in  that he had many good  friends and he enjoyed  life to the fullest.
Thomas will truly be missed . May God give you strength and comfort you during this profound time of sorrow.
