Born on September 14, 1961, in San Juan Puerto Rico, Chitin was the loving husband to Maritza Rivera; devoted father to Wilfredo Rivera (Jesselle), Cierra Matejka, Juanita Noch (Kevin), and Lisa Ayoub (late Ehab). Beloved grandfather to Emilo, Elijah, Ariana, Omero, Zion, Elianna, Ezekiel, Gabrielle, Alexia, Isaiah, Selena, Isabella, Noah, Leoni, Ekrami, Gabriel, and Mya. Beloved great-grandfather to four. Dearest brother to Olga Conty, Wilson (Dianna) and Willie (Mayra). Treasured uncle to many. Cherished son to the late Wilfred Rivera Sr. and Zoraida Santiago Figueroa and stepson to the late Hermes Ortiz.
Chitin proudly served in the United States Army Reserves. He found great joy in playing baseball, a passion that introduced him to many treasured friends and lasting memories.
Chitin was a devoted sports enthusiast, known for his unwavering loyalty to the Cleveland Guardians and the Cleveland Browns. He cheered on his teams with enthusiasm and passion, sharing his love of the game with friends and family alike. Beyond sports, Chitin’s zest for life was evident in his appreciation for music and dance—he especially enjoyed salsa music and was well known for his lively dance moves, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
While his love for sports was apparent, it could never compare to the deep love he held for his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, creating special bonds and lasting memories. Chitin’s warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chitin will be remembered for his warmth, his camaraderie, and the joy he brought to family and friends alike. He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, and a zest for life that will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 4PM-8PM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home 14768 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, Ohio, 44111. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 10AM at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home 14768 Lorain Ave, Cleveland, Ohio, 44111. Chitin will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.
