William R Alberts

Willam Rensley Alberts was born on December 1, 1948, to Louise Alberts and Nathaniel Foster Speed in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the apple of his grandparents, William and Annie Stockdale, eye. As a child, William, affectionately known as Pee Wee, attended Sunday school at St. Marc’s AME Church.

Pee Wee moved to Cleveland, Ohio at an early age. He graduated from Glenville High School in 1968. William enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two years in the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty and honorable discharge, he worked at General Electric (GE), The Regional Transit Authority (RTA), and drove 18-wheeler trucks.

William was a proud father of three. He loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He would do anything for them. His love was always strong and warm. He was “the best father!”

William found pleasure in playing cards, backgammon, and chess. He was an avid sports fan.

William departed this life peacefully on October 6, 2023 at Marymount Hospital after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Annie Stockdale; father, Nathaniel Foster Speed; and brother, Tony Holey.

William leaves to cherish his memory, mother Louise Bullock; children, William Jr., Stefani, and Maragret Anne; grandchildren, Haley, Mercedes, Ernest, Brittney; great grandchild, Ryan; sisters, Brenda (Charles) Herian of Delaware, Sharon Holey, Patricia Holey of Kentucky; aunts, Mary O’Neal and Barbara Gabriel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cummings & Davis Funeral Home, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A wake will occur Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio 44112. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2:30 PM, 13201 Euclid Avenue, East Cleveland, OH 44112. An interment private will occur Friday, October 20, 2023.
