William L Johnson

February 24, 1977December 23, 2019

William Leron Johnson was born on February 24, 1977 to Betty Johnson and William Harris at MetroHealth Hospital. He was affectionately known as “Mooch or Moocho” by family and friends. William attended Cleveland Public Schools. While attending East High School he played and became the “star” quarterback. His stats spoke volumes about his passion, dedication, and love for the game and team. In 2000, William married the love of his life Contessa Hoskins. Four beautiful boys were created from that union. William worked as a Computer Technician for 14+ years. During his career, he attained several credentials which included Cisco Certified Network Associate (CNAA), Network+, Apple Certified Associate (ACA), Comp TIA A+ Technician, and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. He also loved taking pictures and jumped at opportunity to capture precious moments, especially when it came to family and social events. William was always on the scene with his creative backgrounds and lavish photo cases. Other interest included traveling, enjoying nature, listening to jazz, art, and plants. Did you know that he played the saxophone? This man practiced daily and almost became as good as his favorite jazz musician Paul Taylor. All in all, William aka Mooch was an amazing father, husband, brother, nephew, and friend with many talents and passions that he loved sharing with those he encountered. William loved to talk. Every conversation there was a lesson to be learned. William was also a barber has a teenager in school he would cut hair in the bathroom that's where he practice on his principle, teachers, and friends and became very good at cutting hair. William loved to travel. If he could have traveled this whole world he would have. He kept a globe of the world and always talked about where he wanted to go next. William always called himself the president that never was. He was so smart and intelligent he always said he could take over the world like one of his favorite cartoons pinky and the brain. He also called his self chef Mooch he would whip up a dish in no time. He smoked the house up but the dish was always delicious. William wore many hats. If it needed to be done he may not have been the best for the job but was done to the best of his ability. I met William through him working in my department of Telephone Service at Case Western Reserve University. It is true what they said about him "he loved to talk" to everyone. The last time I saw William we shared laughs and funny conversations at our annual Christmas party. Before we all left the party he suggested to take a picture to commemorate the moment like the year before. Attached is the photo we took at the Christmas party. He will be missed within our department.

I first met Mr. Johnson while I was coaching his son in youth football, he was funny, kind but direct. We had many long talks about life, he had away of getting his point across. He loved his family and always put them first. May God keep his arms around the family during this time in their life .

I've been knowing Mooch since 7th grade. ALWAYS one of the most smartest and athletic individuals I have ever known. But his "jewel" was he was able to adapt to ANY environment and shine...I loved that about my bro. I am truly going to miss you my brother...our battles on the gridiron were epic and are still vivid in my mind. I love you and until we meet again...👊

I remember Mooch coming to football practice being silly wearing a helmit with no face mask on.

I’m truly saddened to hear about Mooch. I just saw him that Sunday at the Christmas party and he was his jovial, upbeat, engaging self. The first time I met Mooch was at my father in laws house maybe 8 years ago and we talked sports for over an hour and laughed the majority of that time if not more. I can still hear him calling me Kevin Hart.lol. Not only was he humorous but very intelligent and a great father. I can honestly say the world won’t be the same without him. Contessa and the boys you are forever in my prayers. R.I.P. my brother.

I remember the first time I meant Moocho, he was picking on me for dating his cousin and from that day forward we became cool. He was a talented, much-loved and beautiful person and he will never be forgotten and will forever be missed.
