Mrs. Yvonne Ware was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on June 15, 1937 to the late Luvenia Wheat and James Bowens. From an early age, Yvonne expressed a strong mind, body, and spirit, and held a deep passion for God, and a dedication to living fully, and serving faithfully.
Yvonne lived in Birmingham, Alabama until her family moved to Cleveland, Ohio.
In Cleveland, Yvonne met and married the late Herman L. Ware, Jr. To this union three sons and one daughter were born: Michael (Detroit, Michigan), Ronald (Atlanta, Georgia), Randall (Cleveland Ohio); and Michele (Naperville, Illinois).
Yvonne devoted two decades to homemaking as a young wife and mother, taking good care of her family. She especially enjoyed the holidays cooking, serving, and entertaining family and friends in her home.
In the early 1970s Yvonne joined the George Worthington Company, as an Order Specialist. When the company closed in the early 1990s, Yvonne turned entrepreneurial, and started up a food business, providing lunches to nearby workers.
Yvonne later started a food catering company, “Yvonne Ware Catering“. Here she provided delicious culinary fare and full service to both private and business clients. She especially enjoyed recruiting and collaborating with younger assistants from her community, helping to get the job done.
Yvonne’s enduring pursuits included fashion, entertainment, travel, and food, and she recognized and believed that “Man does not live by bread alone”, and so was a life-long seeker, servant, and student of Christianity. Many years ago, a spirit of charity first led her to serve the elderly who lived in nearby nursing facilities during holiday times.
Yvonne participated in service opportunites and in a variety of social clubs, including: La Cimmeron’s Social Club; Political Ward Volunteer; Unity Center Church Board Treasurer, (7 years); Playhouse Square Foundation Redcoat Volunteer (5 years); “Friends of East Cleveland Public Library”, Special Contributor; and she was a member of the Lake Erie Birthday Club.
Yvonne chose Antioch Baptist Church as her final church home. She enjoyed weekly worship, and participated in various ministries for over a decade.
Yvonne Ware lived her life to its fullest come what may. With strong faith, and commitment she spent 50+ years in her beloved home, and liked that her family and friends could connect just by dialing her telephone number, which remained unchanged for over 60 years.
Yvonne leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Michael, Ronald, Randall, and her only daughter, Michele, and son-in-law Marc-Arthur Fervil. Also, she leaves her sister Olivia (Ned) Cooper, and dear cousins, Erma Jean Bernard, Ameniah (Donald) Riveria, James Shackleford and Jean (Al) Horton. Her Grandchildren include Michele Ware, Tiffany (Tyrone) Frances, and Marc-Arthur Fervil, Jr., and by consent, Ricky Fervil, Kevin Fervil and Vladjimir Fervil. The family is forever grateful for devoted friends Shirley Suddeth, and Merlyn Glenn, and she counts many, many special friends including Gloria and Al Hayes. She is further survived by great-grand children, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends
