Alfred P. Pellegrino, 69 of Tolland, Connecticut, peacefully passed away on November 22, 2021. Al was known for his huge heart and kindness, welcoming all and helping anyone in need. He was also a man of great creativity and talent. He started playing drums at a young age and it became a lifelong passion. Always in a band or playing open mic’s, he was well known in the local music scene as a great drummer and person. Still playing on his first mod citrus orange drum set, he always had a love for older things, “none of that new garbage”. When Al was playing drums, he was a conductor; watching him play was seeing energy transform into sound. Another passion of his was building motorcycles (old of course). In the last few years he poured his energy into creating two “mean machines” built from what most would have found long gone, but in dad's words, he was bringing these bikes “back to life”. He was especially a fan of the flat head creating the expression “flat is where it's at”. But his greatest love was for his wife, Donna and their two daughters. He lit up when talking about his girls and their families. Some of his favorite ways to spend time with his four grandkids included playing cards, watching three stooges and going out for ice cream. His love was so powerful that his family always knew everything would be okay even in the toughest of times. Often he was making people laugh, and smile being known for his authenticity and sincerity. There was a bit of magic to Al, a spark of light that he brought to the room he was in. There were not many like him, he was a one of a kind guy and will be remembered as a true family man, and friend; a protector of his loved ones and creator of his passions.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Millie (Zappulla) Pellegrino, his wife, Donna (Piscottano) Pellegrino, Sister, Nancy (Pellegrino) Cross, brother Sebastian Pellegrino and nephew Dana Pellegrino.
Alfred is survived by his daughter, Shawna Chaplin, son in law Chris Chaplin, Daughter, Tonya Cardoso and son in law Bruno Cardoso. His sister, Roseanne Pellegrino, his sister-in-law Janey Cafro, and his four grandchildren; Sawyer and Zoey Chaplin and Benicio and Adrian Cardoso. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who hold a special place in his heart.
