

Andrew Giannotti passed away on September 8, 2010 after a courageous battle with Cancer. A resident of Clinton, Connecticut since 1965 he leaves his wife Barbara Brown Giannotti, his daughter Susan Bartold of Colorado Springs, Colorado and her husband Greg, his son John Giannotti of Clinton and his wife Missy, his son Peter Giannotti of Clinton and his wife Tierney. He was loved by his six grandchildren; Andrew & Olivia Giannotti, Elizabeth & Gregory Bartold, and Ella & James Giannotti. He is also survived by many loving family members and friends.
Andrew was born in New Haven, Ct. on December 24, 1932 to Andrew and Nancy (Canapino) Giannotti. He was predeceased by his siblings; his brother Vincent, sisters Antoinette and Marie and by his brothers Eugene and Marshall. The family was raised in the Hill section of New Haven and Andrew graduated from Saint Anthony’s School and Hillhouse High School (1950).
He served on active duty in the US Air Force as a communications technician from 1951-1955. During this period he participated in Operation Ivy, when a hydrogen bomb was tested in the Marshall Islands. He then served in the USAF Reserve in New Haven from 1955-1965 achieving the grade of Master Sergeant. In 1965 he transferred to the Naval Reserve at Fort Hale and served as a Chief Petty officer in the Naval Security Group until his retirement in 1984. On retirement from the Naval Reserve he had completed 33 years of honorable service.
Andrew was employed by Western Union from 1957 until his retirement in 1984. His career path began as a technician and culminated as a customer sales manager in Southern Connecticut. Since 1984 he had been self employed in the communications, finance and automotive industries. He had many interests including recreational walking, travelling, gardening and reading.
Friends may visit the family Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 3 to 7 pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton. Andrew has been an active member of Saint Mary’s of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Clinton on Grove St. where his funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, September 13, 2010. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Regiment, 3025 John Quick Road, MCB Quantico, VA 22134.
