Bryan “Zeke” Matthew Snow passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, surrounded by his family who loves him dearly. Born April 30, 1977, in New London, Zeke was raised in Clinton and Niantic. He was a graduate of St. Bernard High School in 1995, and from Quinnipiac University in 2001.
Many readers may not recognize the name Bryan when thinking of him. When he was born, his dad really liked the name Zeke; however they ultimately decided on the more conservative name of “Bryan” for the birth certificate. Upon returning home from the hospital, his dad never stopped calling him Zeke, and his mom added “Zeker” to the list. “Zeke” doesn’t appear on any official document, but to all of us, this is his name. For those who knew Zeke during his formative years, you are sure to think of baseball. Zeke was the varsity catcher at St. Bernard High School where he lived to “gun down” any runner who attempted to steal second base. You may also remember him as that kid who went to the prom all four years of high school, much to his older brother’s chagrin. The friendships he built there remain some of his very closest.
Professionally, Zeke worked in marketing with agencies in New Haven, Louisville, Ky., New York City and Columbus, Ohio. Most recently, he worked as a director of marketing communications with Medtronic in New Haven. When probed about what he aspired to be, Zeke’s go-to line was “second baseman for the Yankees, but that job’s currently taken.” In actuality, Zeke’s dedication to his work impacted so many people’s lives. He was the first to drop everything when someone asked for help and the last to take credit for the work that was accomplished.
Zeke had a seemingly endless catalog of dialects, funny accents, ridiculous facial expressions and a collection of obscure movie and television quotes which he usually combined in absurd ways to ensure that every interaction left you feeling happier and less serious than you were just a moment earlier. Zeke was extremely generous, thoughtful and kind with everyone he interacted with, ending every conversation asking if there was anything he could do to help them.
Zeke is eternally devoted to his family. He met his absolute best friend, now wife, Lynn Snow working together side-by-side. The joy in his life centered on his wife Lynn; his son Jackson and daughter Sophie; his stepchildren, Lucas, Lucy and Bradley; his parents, James and Donna Snow; his aunt Patrice Paton; his brother and sister-in-law Joshua and Kristen Snow; and his nephews, Benjamin, Oliver and Trevor Snow. He showered them with love and spoiled them hopelessly.
Zeke meant so much to so many. He left the world a better place. The laughs he created and kindness he shared will be with us always. We are all better people for knowing and loving him.
Because of COVID-19, a celebration of his life will be held when conditions are safe. The family is asking that any donations be made in his memory to Families Helping Families of Clinton, Connecticut (fhfclinton.org).
