

Catherine Mae Robbins, age 91, passed away Sunday January 11, 2015 with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Chester J. Robbins of 53 years. Catherine was born in Dallas, TX on July 31, 1923 to the late Frederick and Nelle (Maroney) Browne.
Catherine worked at Eleanor Knox Dress Shop in Madison for 25 years. And from 1929 to 1976 her family owned and operated the historic Clinton Manor Inn. Catherine was a Parishioner of St. Mary of the Visitation in Clinton for most of her life, as well as a member of the 39er’s, the elite group the Tony’s girls and the Altar Society of St. Mary. She also was a long time member of the Leisure Club of Clinton. Catherine was well known in Clinton, as an elegant women with a million dollar smile, always positive, and never complaining. An avid collector, she collected angels since the 50’s and Santa Clause for 20 years. She loved traveling to ports of Italy, Bermuda and their home in Fla. Catherine loved the sun scene often sitting in her back yard, and once an avid reader. Clinton has lost a great friend.
Catherine leaves behind two daughters, Regina Wohlke and husband Steven of Clinton, and Catherine Jackson and husband Dean of Union, Maine. A sister-in-law Dorothy Robbins of East Haddam who was her best friend. She also is survived by a two grand children, Erika Higgins and husband Peter of Orange, and Ross Wohlke of Clinton. Two great grand children Owen Tyler and John Egan Higgins. Also survived by a nephew William B. Robbins of Old Saybrook, and Charlotte and Betty-Ann Robbins. Mercy, her care giver, was by her side for 4 years, Thank you, and with much love.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 80E Main St. Clinton on Wednesday January 14, from 3pm to 7pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday January 15, at St. Mary of the Visitation at 11am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made to St. Mary Church, 54 Grove St. Clinton CT. 06413, and The CT Macular Degeneration Society.
