

Charles Star Carlson Jr., age 88, passed away in Margate, Florida, on August 16, 2014. He was born on February 4, 1946 in Hartford, CT to Charles S. Carlson Sr. and Signe Montstram Carlson. Charles was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, class of 1945. He was a champion swimmer. He joined the Navy in 1943, at 17 years of age. He was on the USS McDonough in the South Pacific for two years. Charles flew and owned a Cessna Airplane and flew all along the East Coast to Florida and the Caribbean. He built and designed homes in Granby, Simsbury, and Farmington, CT. He built a twenty family apartment house which he owned and lived at, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for many years. He was also a Captain for yacht owners along the East Coast and the Caribbean. He is survived by a son, Gregory Lief Lewis, three grandchildren; Morgan Star Lewis, Sierra Sky Lewis, and Cameron Lewis (Lief). He is also survived by his sister, Joanne Carlson Reilly, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
