Utica, NY native Dorothy Scambelluri passed away peacefully under the care of Apple Rehab Nursing Home in Guilford, CT. on April 1st.
Dorothy is survived by sister Bonnie Wdowiak (New Hartford, NY) daughter Lisa and husband Al Braman (Clinton, CT), son Craig and husband John Suda (Palm Springs, CA) and loving grandchildren Blake and Dustin (both in MA). In addition, she leaves behind cherished nieces and nephew: Alicia Martini and husband Anibal (NJ) Brian Perretta (FL), and Anita Alvaraz (PA)
Dorothy attended dental college in NYC in the mid 1950s where she earned a Dental Hygienist degree that would later lead to a highly successful 20+ year professional practice working for her with her dear friend and colleague Dr. Louis Haddad D.D.S. in South Utica.
She was married to Frank A. Scambelluri (Albany, NY) seven years and remained separated, legally married until his death in 2009. Throughout her long life, Dorothy nurtured a love for dogs, old Hollywood movies, summer tag sales and all treats chocolate. Dorothy has remained throughout her life a strong and loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was always loving and selfless in all that she did.
Dorothy will be urn-interred in the Verni/Fariello family plot at Calvary Cemetery 2407 Oneida Street, Utica NY. There a private family mass will be held as she is returned to her family in Utica NY.
