

Eleanor Mae Sanderson, 92, of Killingworth, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late Charles W. Sanderson, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 3, 2025 surrounded by love. She was born on September 28, 1932, in Middletown, CT. to the late Clarence and Mary Miller Chittenden.
Eleanor was an active parishioner at Killingworth Congregational Church where she was the eldest living member. She was a member of the churches “Wednesday Eve’s Group” and active in other church events. She loved doing the rummage sales, bake sales, (she loved to bake desserts on a daily basis), and for many years having the hamburger and hotdog booth at the August church auction/fair. She also loved gardening and her birds. One of her favorite memories was traveling the country with Charlie in their Winnebago. For 28 years she was a licensed childcare provider helping Diane with her with childcare, “Home Away From Home,” where she was affectionately known as grandma to all the children. She loved, cuddled and read to each and every one of them.
Eleanor is survived by her two children, Douglas Sanderson (Nancy) of Moodus, and Diane Condon of Killingworth, with whom she resided. She is also survived by three grandchildren Carley Mae, Jeromy and Cory as well as three great grandchildren Ashley, Hailey and Hunter. Besides her husband Charles, she was predeceased by her brother Edgar M. Chittenden and her loving grandson, Steve Charles Condon.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 1pm at the Evergreen Cemetery, Green Hill Road in Killingworth.
