

Eleanor Mary Volpe, 81 of Madison passed away at her home on May 26, 2012. Eleanor was born in East Haven, CT on September 24, 1930 to the late Alfonsina (Canzanella) and Joseph DiGirolamo. She is survived by husband, Leo Volpe and children; John J. Volpe and his wife Christine of Killingworth and Karen Volpe Taylor and her husband Richard of Clinton. Eleanor is also survived by grandchildren; Marissa and Bryan Taylor, Paige and Brooke Volpe, sister; Lorraine Caldwell (Theodore), brothers, Carlo DiGirolamo (Beatrice), Dino DiGirolamo (Rose) and John DiGirolamo (Shirley). Eleanor loved to cook and make people happy with her delicious food. She was famous for her Italian Cream birthday cakes. She loved to play cards with her friends and visit the casino. She also enjoyed the many friendships created at the Shoreline Dialysis. Eleanor was a breast cancer survivor who loved her family dearly especially her four grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St. in Clinton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday at St. Mary of Visitation Catholic Church, Grove Street, Clinton. Interment will be private.
