To Ellen's Family and many friends,

I knew Ellen as a Golf Buddy in Pelican Sound. She was fun to be around and never played the game too well to make the rest of us feel intimidated. She was positive and smiling and always seemed to be comfortable in her own skin, accepting who she was and enjoying the best things her life brought her way. She was a teacher, as I was, Family and Consumer Science (Home Economics), so we shared that bond and some crazy stories of life in a classroom. Flexible, caring, outgoing and smart, all the qualities of a terrific teacher and an adult you liked to spend time with. And she faced her final passage in the same manner. Positive and accepting, lessons we who knew her will remember as we look to our future as well.
Good-bye dear friend. You have made a statement with your life and you will be missed. RIP.

Dear Dennis and Family,

I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with your loss. Ellen was a phenomenal person: funny, courageous, inspiring, smart, and just full of life - even while battling cancer. I first met her many years ago at Pelican Sound when she was part of my golf foursome. Later she became a Golf Buddy and we played many games of golf, chatted and drank afterwards - always a great time with her! I loved her sense of humor, ability to laugh at her bad shots, and cheer herself when she hit good ones. Mostly, she inspired me with her positive attitude and cheer. She always made everyone laugh and was supportive. I will miss her greatly, but part of her spirit is in my heart.

I hope that the great memories you have of Ellen warm your hearts and bring a smile to your face. In that way she will always be with you and you will feel her love forever.

Ellen was a tennis teammate that approached the sport with the same tenacity and commitment to win as she did life itself. We so admired her “can do attitude” and the courage she displayed over the last few years. We will all dearly miss her and her positive spirit.
