Ernest Albert Lindquist Jr. “Ernie”, was a beloved son, husband, father and grandfather during his 70 years of life. After a year-long battle with an aggressive cancer, he passed away on August 10th, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ernie was a lifelong resident of Madison, CT. He married Lauren Quirk Lindquist in 1988, and they made their home in Killingworth.
He graduated from Daniel Hand High School June 18, 1971, and was employed for 37 years by the State of Connecticut working as a Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor for the state parks and Department of Environmental Protection, retiring in 2007.
Ernie was a devoted husband, and loving father who cherished time spent with family. Anyone that knew him saw his kind heart and amazing yet quiet strength. He was a patient and caring soul, who had a loving and gentle nature with a great (and subtle) sense of humor. He was the rock and supporter to many, and always put his family and loved ones first.
Ernie was an active member of the Friends of Connecticut State Parks, the Goldwing Association, BSA Motorcycle club, and co-founder of the “Wrench Night” club. He loved his cross country motorcycle trips, people watching at Disney World, playing and watching baseball (New York Yankees), watching Nascar, getting ice cream at Durham Dari Serv, and camping, hiking, biking, or anything outdoors with his friends and family.
Ernie will be sorely missed by his wife and best friend Lori Lindquist, mother June Watson Lindquist of Killingworth, his son Thomas Albert Lindquist and his wife Jaime Bates Lindquist of Madison, his daughters Jessica Joan Lindquist of Coventry, RI. and Stephanie June Lindquist of Killingworth, and his grandchildren Owen Riley Lindquist and Sophie Elizabeth Lindquist.
Ernie was predeceased by his father Ernest Albert Lindquist Sr., and his son Dennis Albert Lindquist.
Ernie’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Guilford and Yale New Haven Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. As well as all of his friends and family, for their many acts of kindness and support during his battle with this illness.
Relatives and friends may join the family for a graveside memorial service and burial at the North Guilford Congregational Church Cemetery, Ledge Hill Rd. Guilford, CT. at 12pm to 1pm on Sunday, August 14th.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in his memory to a cancer charity of your choosing.
