

Francis “Butch” Graham, 88, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026 following a long battle with kidney disease, with his beloved wife of 62 years, Janice, by his side. Throughout their life together, Janice was his devoted partner and loving caregiver. Butch was born on August 17, 1937, in Clinton.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Janice; his daughter, Lisa Carr and her husband Robert of Vernon; and his three cherished grandchildren, Jonathan, Danielle, and Tyler. He is also survived by his brother, Leonard Carpentier and his wife Daryl; their children, Kristen Slepecki and her husband Alaric, and Kevin Carpentier; as well as his grandnephew, Waylon Slepecki, whose special visits over the last few years brought great joy to Butch and Janice. He is further survived by his nieces and nephew from his sister’s family — Carol, Patricia, and Thomas — along with their families. Also a nephew Ray Swan (Amy) of Killingworth and their children Olivia and Ray Jr.
Butch was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Graham; his brothers, Raymond and Richard; and his sister, Patricia.
Butch proudly served in the National Guard before beginning a long career as an auto body mechanic at several local businesses until his retirement.
In retirement, Butch and Janice enjoyed weekly breakfasts with friends and peaceful walks along nearby beaches. A talented woodworker, Butch spent many years creating beautifully turned wooden bowls and vases. He was known for his kindness, practical skills, and willingness to help anyone in need. Together, they especially enjoyed watching UConn Huskies women's basketball games on television.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Westbrook Visiting Nurses in gratitude for the compassionate care and support provided to their family over the years. Donations can be made at 866 Boston Post Road, Westbrook, CT 06498. The family would also like to express sincere appreciation to the caregivers, Maria and Samari, for the comfort and support they provided in recent months.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 4pm until 6pm at Swan Funeral Home, located at 80 E. Main St, Clinton, CT. A graveside service will take place the following day, Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11am at Evergreen Cemetery, located on Green Hill Road in Kilingworth, CT.
