

Graham “Red” Pendleton, 83 of Clinton passed away April 6, 2012. He was born August 13, 1928 in Westbrook CT, to Charles and Etta (Champion) Pendleton. Red is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Leslie Clark, Howard Pendleton, Charles Pendleton, Kenneth Pendleton, Leon Pendleton, sisters, Helen Clark and Etta Pendleton. Red is survived by loving wife of 49 years, Ida (Hurd) Pendleton and children; David Wright and his wife, Silvia of Holbrook, AZ, Larry Wright and his wife, Cheryl of Tenino, WA, Scot Pendleton and his wife, Jennifer (Reynolds) of Irmo, SC, and Ruth Wright of Sarasota, FL, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and sisters; Clara Blaschke, Bristol, CT, Shirley Saunders, Groton, CT and Gloria Thrasher (George) of Hampton, GA. Graham, or Red, as he was known to most of his friends was a proud Army Korean War veteran and an active member of the American Legion. His life showed he believed in giving back to his community. He was a long-time member of the First Church of Christ in Clinton, the Clinton Soup Kitchen, and Habitat for Humanity. He worked at a variety of jobs all of which he always took personal pride. His last sixteen years of work he was the lead custodian at Daniel High School in Madison where he served the students and staff with great dedication. He loved going to stock car races with his lifelong friend Chick Avery. Woodworking was a passion and he loved to share his talents with others by doing various projects for them. Friends were an important part of his life. It wasn’t uncommon for “Red” to be greeted by a friend regardless of where he happened to be in the US or even when he travelled to England visiting his son. Family was the most vital part of “Red’s” life. His treasures were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The jewel of his life was his beloved wife of 49 years, Ida. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 2 PM at First Church of Christ, Clinton, CT.
