James William McDonough of Killingworth, Connecticut passed away on June 19th, 2025, at the age of 84. He was born on May 9th, 1941, in Norwalk, Connecticut. He grew up in Willton, Connecticut where He was an only child.
He graduated from Wilton High School on June 24th, 1960.
James enlisted into the United States Airforce in December 1961 and went to tech school for electronics in Denver, Colorado. He became a Master Technician on the B-47 Stratojet stationed at Lincoln Air Force base Nebraska during the Cuban Missile Crisis as part of Strategic Air Command. He was honorably discharged in January 1965, where he stayed in reserve capacity for 2 more years. From 1965 to the early 2000s He worked as an electronics salesman with various companies. In the mid-2000s during retirement he worked as an automobile parts delivery driver for various companies.
James had an affection for hot rods and muscle cars, rebuilding and showcasing many during his lifetime. He was a member of various car clubs, starting one with a close friend called The Connecticut Cruisers. He had an affinity for the beauty of lighthouses.
He is preceded in death by his Father William McDonough, and Mother Elizabeth Steadman.
He is survived by his son James William McDonough Jr and daughter Kimberly Ann Gillis.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at The Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton, Connecticut, on Friday, June 27th, at 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held the following morning at 10:00 AM at Clinton Bible Fellowship, 70 East Main Street, next door.
