Jim graduated from Old Saybrook High School in 1986 and attended Unity College in Unity, Maine for conservation law enforcement.

Jim had a successful career as a Systems Technician for Inncom International, Johnson Controls and Honeywell. He loved hunting, fishing and camping and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants.

Jim leaves behind his beloved wife Janet (Granata) Mitchell, mother Patricia, father James and his wife Ellie, sister Cheryl (Mitchell) Allen and husband Frank, brother Scott Mitchell and several loving nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving guest on Thursday October 19, 2017 from 4-6:30pm at Swan Funeral Home 80 E Main St Clinton CT 06413. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday October 20, 2017 at 11:00am at St Mary's Church 54 Grove St Clinton CT 06413, Burial will be private for the family immediately following Church.
