Janis Weisse Story, 61 of Clinton passed away at CT Hospice of Branford on September 22, 2018 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for over three years. Janis was born at Hartford Hospital on December 10, 1956. She was the daughter of the late Fred C Weisse and Johanna Schlorekel Weisse. She is predeceased by her husband Phil. She was the youngest of three girls she is predeceased by her sister Joan Sommerville. She is survived by her daughter Samantha and son Nicholas; sister Patty Hall and her husband Dave of Clinton.
She graduated from Morgan High School Class of 1975. She married Phillip Story and they had 2 children Samantha & Nick Story. Janis in her younger days was an avid windsurfer placing 3rd in the world and was asked to represent the USA if windsurfing was passed as an Olympic Sport but it wasn’t. She loved to volunteer for CRT Family Day and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Clinton Fire Department which she served on for 18 years.
One of the groups of friends that was closest to her heart was her Bunco Bitches. She leaves behind Theresa Harris, Violet Sheehan, Joann Norman, Jane Orsini, Susan Kyhn, Elizabeth Karen Gee, Karen Cote, Judy Blackwell, Diane Condon, Dee Gallerani, & Stephanie Peckham Blier.
She enjoyed the beach and kayaking in Indian River and socializing with her friends. She found comfort and companionship with her dog Stella and Black Magic, the cat. Lastly, she found peace going to church with her sister Patty and her husband Dave. She was proud to be baptized into the church which gave her peace in her final days.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 1 pm at St Mary’s Church in Clinton. A celebration of her life will be held at the Clinton Fire Dept immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janis’s memory may be made to the Clinton Fire Department, PO Box 5062, Clinton, CT 06413.
