
WALKER, Joan G. Joan G. Walker passed on Tuesday (September 28, 2010) at Connecticut Hospice surrounded by a small circle of friends. The only child of the late John and Grace Walker, Joan was born on July 1, 1940 in Queens, NY. After graduating from Ilion High School and Syracuse University, she started her career with Lord & Taylor in New York City as a buyer and later as an International Flight Attendant with TWA. Joan visited most European and Middle Eastern cities, where she made lasting friendships. Upon retirement, Joan kept in touch with her friends and colleagues as a member of Silver Wings. She was a dog lover, Certified Master Gardener, enjoyed painting in both oil and water colors, basket weaving, refinishing furniture, and was a talented seamstress. Joan enjoyed reading and was an original member of the Harbour Gals Book Club. She also worked at a local wine and Spirits shop. Joan had the gift of engaging people and leaves behind "her family" of many devoted friends. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held to honor her life at a later date with the site yet to be determined. Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
