Palm Coast, Fla. - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph R. Alfiero Jr., age 88, of Palm Coast, Fla., Sept. 16, 2026. Joseph was born Nov. 17, 1937, to the late Antonette and Joseph Alfiero Sr. in New London.
In the late 1950s, Joseph spent time as a Lance Corporal Marine and then made a home for his family in Clinton. He enjoyed a 35-year long career at Electric Boat in the shipyard.
Joseph was devoted to his family and loved ones. He enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, especially a pasta dinner. Having everyone gather around the table one was of his greatest joys in life. He leaves behind the tradition that family always loves and supports each other and a reminder to take the time to gather together.
Joseph is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Maureen) Alfiero and Brian (Dorise) Alfiero; his three grandchildren, Toni (Abigail) Alfiero, Anna Alfiero and Joseph (Haylie) Alfiero; his two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Montgomery; cherished nieces and nephews; and his beloved friend Maryanne Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents; his seven siblings; and his cherished wife Diana Marcinek Alfiero.
A graveside service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Evergreen Cemetery in Killingworth. Viewing hours will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at Swan's prior. Swan Funeral Home in Clinton is charged with the arrangements.
