Joyce Elaine Miller

Joyce Elaine Miller of Clinton CT passed away on May 18, 2025, just short of her 84th birthday. Joyce was born on May 22, 1941, in Norfolk VA and later moved with her family to Philadelphia, PA, then to Santa Barbara CA.

Joyce graduated from Monrovia - Duarte High School in southern California, receiving The Best Citizenship Award. Soon thereafter she began her first career as a flight attendant for United Airlines where she met her husband. After raising three children she went back to school for Nursing and worked as a school nurse at Gill St. Bernards School in Peapack - Gladstone NJ. She became interested in Admissions and quickly became the Director of Admissions for many years. As a lifelong learner she was still not satisfied so she earned her bachelor’s degree at age 68, and her master’s degree in Literacy at age 71, from Caldwell College in Randolph, NJ. She did this while working for the Isles Youth Institute in Trenton NJ, helping underprivileged youth achieve their GED. She retired at age 75.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Miller, Jr. (1996), and her parents, Willard Albert Bergman and Mary Margaret Herron.

Joyce is survived by her three children and three grandchildren, Kathryn Warlick of Washington, NJ and her children Chloe and Jack Warlick, Karen Cuviello (husband Jim Warring) of Clearwater Beach, FL and her son Thomas Cuviello, and Susan Miller of Westbrook CT.

Joyce was a wonderful friend to so many people, had a great sense of humor, a beautiful smile and loved to dance.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Tuesday May 27th from 4 – 6 pm in the Garden Room at Café Allegre, 725 Boston Post Road, Madison CT 06443.
