

Loren E. Baker Jr, age 74, of Westbrook passed away on December 26, 2013 at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Evis) Baker. Loren worked for the Chesebrough Ponds Company in Clinton for 40 years, and then worked for the Town of Westbrook as Director of Facilities. Loren was a member of the Westbrook Chemical Engine Company No 1 for 45 years and Chief from 1981-1984. Loren was also a member of the Westbrook Ambulance and also served on the board of directors. He was one of the founding members of Valley Shore Communications, located in Westbrook, and president of its board of directors. Loren also served as a Westbrook constable. He was also a manager of Griswold Airport for 10 years. He loved flying, and was a private pilot. He also enjoyed boating, old cars, especially Mack trucks, and his spending time with his grandchildren.
Loren was a big part of Westbrook, and was known by all. Westbrook has lost a good friend.
Besides his wife of 20 years, he is survived by his sons Loren E. Baker III, of Clinton, and Ryan J Baker of Westbrook, and daughter Jamie E. Chrysal of Old Saybrook, and Kathy, Kris and Kim. A brother Jacob (Jay) Baker of Windsor Locks, CT. He is survived by seven grandchildren, Michael, Kierra, Anthony, Bethany, Jack, Riley and Kevin. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton, Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 1 pm at the Westbrook Congregational Church. Internment will be at Cypress Cemetery in Westbrook.
