Marc R. Sullivan, 48, of New Haven, passed away from a suspected heart condition at his home on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Born on November 8, 1969 in Flemington, New Jersey, he was the son of Noelle Sullivan of Windsor Locks and the late Robert Sullivan. Marc was a graduate of Hand High School, class of ’87. He served with pride and honor in the United States Army. Later in life, he was co-founder and partner in an insurance brokerage firm.
He had a passion for travel, friends, music and above all else, family. Marc never knew strangers - his instinct to reach out to others was his greatest show of humanity. He had communities everywhere, especially in the tows of Windsor Locks and New Haven Connecticut and Otisville Maine where he had homes. He provided shelter to several rescue dogs including two Saint Bernards, a Newfoundland and a Bernese Mountain dog, all of whom adored him. His love of life as well as his gregarious and generous nature enriched the lives of all who knew him. We are heartbroken by his loss.
Marc was a beloved uncle, brother and friend. Besides his mother Noelle, he is survived by four siblings, his two sisters, Kathleen Sullivan El Fallah and her husband Khaled of Tampa, Florida, Amy Sullivan Berkeley and her husband Duncan of Georgetown, MA, his two brother, Kenneth Biter and his wife Sheri of East Granby, and David Byter and his wife, Bonnie, of Westborough, MA. He is the proud nephew of J. Michael Sullivan and his wife Clare, Fran House and her husband Richard, Richard Biter and his wife Tina. He is also survived by two nieces and seven nephews: Isabella, Sarah, Ryan, Tarek, Quince, Jack and Gavin. He is the adoptive brother of Conor and Kyle Sullivan.
Marc was predeceased by his brother Sean Sullivan, and his father Robert Sullivan.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 11 at 1:00pm at the First Congregational Church, 26 Meetinghouse Lane, Madison. Military burial will follow at West Cemetery in Madison, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marc’s name to the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue, an organization dedicated to helping giant breed dogs in need.
