

Marjorie Alexander, age 92, died at Apple Rehab in Old Saybrook, Connecticut on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 of natural causes. Born April 13, 1922, in New Haven, Connecticut to Joseph and Flora Donlan, Marjorie lived in Connecticut her entire life, spending the last thirty years in Westbrook.
Marjorie worked in retail and in the local area public schools and was an active member of the community. In addition to serving on the town of Westbrook Senior Center Drop-in Center Advisory Board from 2006 to 2008, Marjorie organized trips for local seniors and volunteered her time for many other local organizations. She also served on the Westbrook Senior Management Committee until the time of her death. A member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Westbrook, Marjorie was actively involved in church activities as well. Other interests included reading, dancing, craftwork and traveling. More than anything, Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survived by her daughter, Eleanor Gerretsen of Clinton, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Jeff Sheldon of Los Angeles, California, Marcy Sheldon (and husband Joshua Levy) of Pennington, New Jersey and Dana Seguin of San Francisco, California; and three great-grandchildren, Sienna, Alden and Taegan Levy of Pennington, New Jersey. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul Alexander; brothers, Gordian Donlan and Joseph Donlan; and sisters, Evelyn Swaun and Pauline Cavallaro.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 5, at St. Marks Catholic Church, 222 McVeagh Rd, Westbrook, Connecticut. Burial will be immediately after service at Connecticut State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln, Middletown, Connecticut. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
